Healing properties
The healing properties of the sea have been known to man since antiquity. People knew the importance of sea water and its properties and used this commodity as a source for healing many ailments. The first to refer to the beneficial properties of sea water was the father of Medicine, Hippocrates (460-377 BC).
For the ancient Greeks, the sea was a source for healing many ailments and its patron god was Poseidon. Nowadays, thalassotherapy has taken the place it deserves among modern sciences.
The beneficial properties of sea water were scientifically documented by the biologist Rene Quinton in 1895, who said that there are many similarities between blood plasma and sea water. They contain over 40 minerals and trace elements. In addition to this concentration, add the fact that sea water is able to penetrate the protective membrane of the skin. This penetrability is increased under certain temperatures. Based on research, a number of beneficial effects on the human body were ascertained.
Thalassotherapy has a positive effect on skin diseases as well as "modern ailments". Stress, anxiety, insomnia, headaches have an impact on our body resulting in diminished performance, feebleness, inability to concentrate and premature aging.
Hydrotherapy in the application of thalassotherapy has a beneficial effect as to: Detoxification (obesity, cellulites), dehydration (it offers minerals, vitamins and trace elements), revitalisation (tonification, well-being), therapy (skin problems), toning (cold - hot), relaxation.
